Understanding Your Financial Statements training

Understanding Your Financial Statements training for e-Business users will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday and Tuesday, April 24-25, in 102 SAB. Reports include Statement of Accounts, Transaction Detail, Personnel Reports and SIS Financial Reporting. Enroll online for either class. The class will be instructional as well as Q&A based. UNIBusiness graduation ceremony

UNIBusiness President's Council will host the 2017 Graduation Celebration mixer and panel at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 13, in the Hall of Flags, CBB. Socialize and network with business students, professors and alumni. Light refreshments will be provided. The panel discussion will begin at 6 p.m. in 109 CBB. Pi Lambda Phi fraternity will host a philanthropy event at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, in Old Central Ballroom, MAU. Film Screening: 'Gen Silent'

The award-winning 2010 documentary, "Gen Silent," will be shown at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in 111 KAB. The film explores the devastating phenomenon of LGBTQ seniors going back in the closet to survive in the long-term healthcare system. Christy Kessens, School of Applied Human Sciences, will moderate a discussion following the film.

Solitary confinement experience

Could you survive in solitary confinement? Join Panthers Advocating Prison Education and Reform from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, April 7, LIB, for a simulation of a solitary confinement cell. Pride Week 2017 keynote speaker: Jeffrey Marsh

The Pride Week keynote lecture will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, in Old Central Ballroom, MAU. The speaker will be author, activist and icon Mx. Jeffrey Marsh. Mx. Marsh identifies as genderqueer and uses singular they/them/theirs pronouns. Their first novel was released last August, “How to be You,” and CBS has described them as “the Internet’s most beloved anti-bully.” There will be a Q&A session following the lecture. Free and open to the public.

Visiting Artist Workshop with Suze Lindsay

Suze Lindsay will be a Visiting Artist in the Department of Art Thursday and Friday, April 6-7. She will demonstrate how she makes her wheel thrown and altered pottery from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4:40 p.m. each day in 126 KAB. The Needs Grading feature in Blackboard is a great way to see what needs to be graded in one spot and to organize your grading workload. For courses with many enrolled students and gradable items, this can be very beneficial. You can easily filter the results by assignment, student and date submitted. Politics in the Classroom: Teaching in Challenging Times

Violent Incident Defense Strategies training

Screening of 'The Good Lie'

UNI RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Support and Empowerment) and the UNI Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education will show the movie "The Good Lie" at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 30, in the CME. The movie tells the story of four of the 20,000 “Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan” who walked thousands of miles to find refuge from the Second Sudanese Civil War and who eventually resettled in the United States. The event is free and open to the public.

Panthers for Pages is collecting used children's books for the Waterloo school district for students to keep. Please bring books to drop boxes in the Honors Cottage or Essentials in MAU by Monday, April 3. Monetary donations are also accepted. Panthers for Pages is a community engagement project through the University Honors Program, sophomore class of Presidential Scholars.
