Spring math and science tutoring hours

Math and business walk-in hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday. Walk-in hours for science are noon to 3 p.m., Monday; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday; noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday. 'Let's Talk'

“Let’s Talk” is an opportunity for students to drop in and have a brief, informal consultation with a counselor. It is meant for students who are curious about counseling and for students with specific concerns that can be briefly addressed. McElroy Fellowships

McElroy Fellowship candidates must intend to pursue a Ph.D. and be a December 2016 or May 2017 graduate with a liberal arts degree. Awardees will receive $10,000 per year for three years to help defray education costs. In addition to an above-average academic record, students will be evaluated on their character, leadership and general interests. Potential applicants should contact Bryce Kanago to express interest and discuss eligibility. The application deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Deadline for donating used greeting cards for St. Jude's is Jan. 20

Donate your used holiday cards to be up-cycled into new cards for St. Jude's Children's hospital. The RRTTC is collecting old cards to send to St. Jude's; the cards will then be resold for $1 to raise money for the hospital. Collection boxes are located in the Maucker Union office, WRC front desk, CEEE atrium and in the lobby of Gilchrist. The deadline for donating is Friday, Jan 20.

UNI to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr.

UNI will host "Dreams to Action: Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr.'s Perspective on Dr. King's Legacy," at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, in Lang Hall Auditorium. The event will commemorate the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. and recognize local individuals who were instrumental in bringing King to UNI for his speech more than 40 years ago. Eddie Moore, Jr. will be the keynote speaker for the event. The event is free and open to the public.

As part of UNI's celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., the CETL will offer a workshop on strategies for dealing with inappropriate comments in the classroom from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, in 301 LIB. Schindigs opening January 23

Schindigs, the newest dining addition to campus, will open Monday, Jan. 23, in its home on the main level of the newly remodeled Schindler Education Center. Schindigs will feature "build-your-own" grain bowls with a variety of ingredients to select from, as well as other grab and go items, a breakfast menu and Sidecar Coffee.
