Security Awareness: avoiding ransomware attacks

Ransomware is a type of malware designed to encrypt users’ files or lock their operating systems so attackers can demand a ransom payment. Survivors of Sexual Assault Support Group

This support group will meet for eight weeks from Oct. 9 to Dec. 4. and provides a safe setting for survivors to connect and share their thoughts and feelings while learning about abuse and healing. Expanded assistive technology

Rod Library has expanded its available assistive technologies. We now have an Assistive Technology Study Room, 315 LIB, that offers a quieter space than the Assistive Technology Area on the main floor as well as additional assistive technology software and equipment. Changes to the eBiz login experience

The morning of Thursday, Sept. 14, Information Technology will upgrade the Oracle e-Business Suite (eBiz). This upgrade will change the login experience for eBiz. You will be required to complete a short configuration change the first time you login to eBiz after the upgrade takes place. Principal Community Scholars Program

The Principal Community Scholars Program, in collaboration with Iowa Campus Compact, supports the leadership development of students seeking a business or business-related degree. Students are selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship, participate in a civic leadership learning community and complete a community-based experiential learning project. Undergraduate students can be nominated by any faculty or staff member willing to serve as their adviser. Nominations are due Friday, Oct. 6. For more information, contact Paige Cowing.

There will be SIS production maintenance from 9 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Sept. 10. This will cause a brief outage due to servers restart. The server restart will be done in a rolling fashion to eliminate outage. Production environments affected will be CSS PRD, PRT PRD and CRM PRD. End users might experience a brief outage when accessing SIS Production.

If a Google Doc is shared with you for evaluation, you can insert "suggested edits" instead of editing the content or inserting comments. This visually helps the author/collaborator to see the changes you are recommending. They can accept or reject your suggestions. The "Suggesting" feature of Google Docs is demonstrated in this Lynda video. Questions can be submitted to servicehub.uni.edu.

TheatreUNI directing scene auditions

The theatre department's directing class will hold open auditions for class projects from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the Bertha Martin Theatre, SWT. The auditions will be for a one performance, three- to five-minute scene directed by a TheatreUNI student. There is a new drag and drop files feature in eLearning (Blackboard)! When instructors create content items, assignments and web links, they can now drag and drop files from their computers to the "hot spot" in the Attach Files area.
