The Culture and Intensive English Program has been granted a 10-year reaccreditation from the Commission for English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). "Empty Bowls" work day

Everyone is welcome to come to the ceramics lab, 126 KAB, Friday, Feb. 10, to make a soup bowl to donate to the “Empty Bowls” fundraiser for the Cedar Valley Food Pantry, a program of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Work sessions will be at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Clay for the bowls and assistance will be provided.

Darwin Week 2017

Darwin Week, hosted by the UNI Freethinkers and Inquirers, will be observed Monday through Friday, Feb. 13-16. The event promotes skepticism and reasoning on various subjects such as religion, politics and science. There will be faculty speakers throughout each day beginning at noon with a keynote speaker each night at 7 p.m. The lectures will be in the University Room, MAU.

Dance Marathon and Sidecar Coffee silent auction

Dance Marathon and Sidecar Coffee are partnering for a community artwork display and auction. The artwork is on display at Sidecar Coffee's Cedar Falls location. A silent auction will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Sidecar. The highest bidders will be contacted Wednesday, Feb. 8, to pick up and pay for their artwork. Auction items include artwork, photography, hand lettering from students and an original photo by photographer Tim Dodd.

Alpha Phi 9th Annual Red Dress Gala

The UNI chapter of Alpha Phi will host their 9th Annual Red Dress Gala to benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Marriott in Cedar Rapids. The foundation is a nonprofit, international organization designed to raise funds and awareness on behalf of women’s heart health. Tickets include dinner, live auction, silent auction and a DJ.
