UNI to host actor and activist Rob Lowe

Acclaimed actor Rob Lowe will speak at the GBPAC at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, as part of the Joy Cole Corning Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. Admission to the lecture is free; tickets are required. Tickets will be available: Monday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 1 for UNI students only; Sept. 2 through Sept. 4 for students, faculty and staff; and Tuesday, Sept. 8 for the general public. Candlelight vigil for Nepal quake

A group of current Nepali students at UNI has organized a candlelight vigil for 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, at the UNI Campanile. The purpose of the event is to remember the victims and to show concern for all those affected by the earthquake in Nepal. More information can be found on Facebook. This event is open to all.

'The Hunting Ground' comes to campus April 29

The critically acclaimed film "The Hunting Ground" exposes the fight for justice against sexual assault on college campuses. It will be shown at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, in Lang Hall Auditorium. GeoCache for College Cash

Rod Library will host GeoCache for College Cash, a Money Smart Week event, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, April 20, in the east lobby. To play, students are invited to read seven posters on personal finance topics and answer seven quiz questions using their smart phones. You'll be competing statewide for a $1,000 scholarship. The posters will be available all week if you can't make the kickoff on April 20.

Singers workshop for 'Rent'

Do you sing Hip Hop? Gospel? Show tunes? Country? Rock? In preparation for the fall theater production of "Rent," there will be a chance to learn some of the music at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 19 and 26, in the SWT. The workshop will show how your voice sounds, your sense of rhythm and how you communicate with another performer while singing. Reading music is not required. Panther Pick Up volunteers needed

2nd Annual Runner's Rave Glow Run

Lecture by the Hon. Jim Leach

Jim Leach was the director of the National Endowment for the Humanities from 2007-2013. He served eastern Iowans in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1977-2007. Bridging political eras, he is uniquely poised to address the ongoing problem of gridlock in U.S. politics.
