Recent events, especially pertinent to online education, may reveal a need to revisit our Student Academic Ethics Policy.

Action:

Therefore, be it resolved that the University Faculty Senate will consider adjusting the Student Academic Ethics policy, in light of vulnerabilities revealed by recent events. Specifically, we will refer the matter to the Educational Policies Commission for deliberation and recommendation. The matter was referred to the EPC, by senate leadership, on 06 April 2020.

EPC Recommended changes to Policy 13.13 Policy on Research Misconduct

Facts:

EPC reviewed Policy 13.13., which we now recommended be re-titled "Policy on Scholarly Misconduct." We recommend changes to both the procedure manual and the policy. Proposed changes are intended to enhance and protect scholarly integrity on campus and to provide additional safeguards that those accused of wrongdoing are evaluated by peer review process.
