Cross Sections

A cross section is a vertical slice of the atmosphere between two endpoints.  The terrain can be seen along the bottom, as the high plains of the Texas Panhandle gently slope downward through Oklahoma into Kansas.

The endpoints of this cross section are 81 km north of Lubbock, Texas on the left, and 44 km NNW of Wichita, Kansas on the right.  The center of the cross section goes through a point 15 km SSW of Gage, Oklahoma.  You can read this information across the bottom of the cross section in FX-Net.  The line along the surface where the cross section originates and goes upward is shown in the inset at the top right of the cross section.

Theoretically, you would be viewing this particular cross section from a spot on the ground in SE Oklahoma and looking NW.
