Study Abroad Center
The UNI Study Abroad Center strives to provide service and leadership in international education to UNI students, faculty, staff, the community and the State of Iowa.
Many programs are 'exchange,' where students pay UNI tuition to go abroad for a semester and earn credits towards their UNI degree. We also offer faculty-led programs over the summer and winter break sessions for two to three weeks where students travel with a UNI professor and class of fellow UNI students. A variety of credit options are offered including UNIFI.
To get started, please refer to the "Get Started" page on the main menu. To explore "Program Options", you can sort by location, term, or program type using that same menu. Once you have started an application, you can log back in using the "Applicant Login" button on the main menu.

Most of our semester universities have summer school options--look for the 'Summer School' tab on the program page! Some of our most popular summer schools are:
- Oviedo for Spanish language learning
- Rennes for AI Business
- San Jose for Spanish language OR English-taught electives in a range of topics
- Akita for Japanese language/culture 6-week program
- Finland for health science and tuition-free classes
- Athens and Florence for their customizable and larger course catalogs
- Besancon for French language learning
- Barcelona for international business
Rennes AI Business
Earn six credits by going with a group of UNI students to Rennes School of Business for a month in early summer! You have the independence to discover France (like Paris) while having the opportunity to study under faculty from a prestigious business school.
This program is especially beneficial for accounting students, but can also benefit MIS and computer science majors. You can be back in time for summer internships, potentially qualify for extra funding, and make yourself more marketable through this experience!
