UNI Opera Showcase

UNI Opera will present a spring showcase featuring scenes from a variety of operas presented in a minimalist style. Our cast of undergraduate and graduate performers take on the challenges of music from both obscure works and operatic standards. A special feature will be "Die Kleine Harlequinade," a short opera by Antonio Salieri, directed by UNI senior music students Alexandra Saulsbury. This event is free and open to the public. 

Performances at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

Live Like a Student classes

Monday, February 20, 2017 - 8:00 am to Thursday, March 9, 2017 - 5:00 pm

Live Like a Student is a free three-week non-credit course that will allow students to explore the concepts of personal budgeting, investing and saving, credit and credit cards, financial aid and identity protection. Courses are offered at a variety of times. Students will receive a Live Like a Student T-shirt as well as the chance to win a $500 scholarship. Space is limited; registration is required.

The Center for Environmental Energy and Education in conjunction with Green Iowa AmeriCorps and Sustainable Schools AmeriCorps will host an Environmental Job Fair. There are approximately 35 full-time positions as Environmental Stewards in seven different locations across Iowa. Positions range from marketing, outreach, education, energy efficiency auditors and logistics coordinators. The Sustainable Schools Program is seeking sustainability coordinators to work with schools to improve their environmental impact. Greens to Go is looking for two new AmeriCorps Vista members to help with providing affordable, local, natural and healthy food to low income families in the Cedar Valley. For more information, visit http://www.greeniowaamericorps.org/open-positions

OSF 101: Introduction to the Open Science Framework, including Data Archival and Pre-Registration

Hands-on workshop by alumna Katherine Corker, an active member of and liaison for the Open Science Framework (OSF), an online project sharing and collaboration initiative developed by the nonprofit Center for Open Science. Corker will introduce the OSF and demonstrate how to set up and manage your research activities in the system as well as use it for data sharing and communications across research teams. Registration is required. Faculty and graduate students involved in research are particularly encouraged to attend. Fits Part A for Ethics in Scholarship certification.
