Drupal Moves Into the White House

The White House Web site has caught a case of Drupal.

In the Internet world, Drupal is not as bad as it sounds. The open source software package helps people create and manage their Web sites. And this week a new site arrived that had been built via the Drupal code.

To some, the White House shift to Drupal from a proprietary software package represented a serious seal of approval for open source software.

Tracking page link click-throughs with Google Analytics

If you would like to track the click-throughs on your website with Google Analytics, you can replace your normal link code

with the following string of Javascript. The segment in parentheses can be named however you wish. I used the main_menu designation to indicate what section of the page that menu item is in.

Performance Comparison of Major Web Browsers

The latest versions of the five major most web browsers (Mozilla Firefox 3.5, Google Chrome 3.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0, Opera 10.0, and Apple Safari 4.0) went head to head under six performance indicators: JavaScript speed, average CPU usage under stress, DOM selection, CSS rendering speed, page load time, and browser cache performance. Each web browser was tested three times under an unprimed cache (except for the browser cache performance), and their average value reported in the results.   Results
