U S WEST Grant Overview
|
Iowa received $1.2 million in funding from the U S WEST Foundation to teach teachers how to use computers and the Internet. The goal of the project was to train one percent (approximately 400) of the PreK-12 classroom teachers in Iowa the first year of the project - and for those to "pass it on the second year, " training some 4,000 others. Each of the 400 teachers received a laptop computer, modem, and software to use as long as they continued to teach in their current school. The University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa and Iowa State University teamed with Area Education Agencies (AEA's) to develop workshop curriculum, training, support and project evaluation.
