The faculty senate re-formed the University Writing Committee with the charge to conduct research and report back to the Senate about the current and ongoing state of writing instruction at UNI. The committee reviewed current assessment documents (e.g., NSSE, LAC 1A Review, etc.) and conducted its own survey of faculty instructional techniques and perceptions about the integration of writing across all colleges. This provides some substantive data regarding writing instruction and potential for its vertical integration across the curriculum.
Therefore, we ask the Faculty Senate to hear our report and recommendations, asking questions as may be appropriate, and provide further guidance for the committee.
