"Dr. Seuss Wants You" and "Facing Prejudice"

The seventh annual collaboration begtween the UNI Center for Holocaust and Genocide Educaiton and the Grout Museum District is bringing two exhibits to the Grout Museum of History and Science. "Dr. Seuss Wants You," highlighting the political cartoons of Dr. Seuss that warned Americans of the growing threat of Nazi Germany, and "Facing Prejudice," which encourages viewers to examine, in a constructive, non-threatening way, the complexities of prejudice and stereotypes that reside in all of us.

Opening Reception: April 24 at 7 p.m. The following students are pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in their respective emphasis areas and are exhibiting new artwork to fulfill graduation requirements: sculptors Dallas Guffey and Timothy Jorgensen; painter Natalie Heddens; and ceramist Madalyn Loring. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; noon to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and by appointment.

Women Sing! Women’s Chorus Festival

Women Sing! Women’s Chorus Festival

Faculty artist and conductor Amy Kotsonis will coordinate this interactive event, featuring women’s chorus ensembles from Iowa high schools, as well as UNI’s own Women’s Chorus. The event will culminate in an evening concert at 6 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public, but the festival does require registration. Please contact amy.kotsonis@uni.edu for more information.
