Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Graduate, Research and Online Education (GROE) at the University of Northern Iowa!

Our college is dedicated to fostering a dynamic environment for all learners, where curiosity thrives, and intellectual boundaries are continually expanded. We are committed to growth, collaboration, and excellence in all areas of graduate, research, and online education.

Our mission is to advocate for our students and faculty, enhance the understanding and application of research concepts, advance online education, and provide high-quality support and service. Through our three divisions – Graduate Studies, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Online Education and Individual Studies – we ensure high academic quality, foster creative and scholarly activities, and expand access to education through innovative programs.

Guided by our five Pillars of Excellence – Purposeful Teaching and Meaningful Learning, Creative Collaboration, and Authentic Engagement, Intentional Capacity Building and Responsible Stewardship, Scholarly Integrity and Academic Excellence, and Equitable Opportunities and Inclusive Experiences – we achieve growth through access to grants and financial assistance, resources for graduate school and research, opportunities for academic and civil engagement, well-being experiences, technological innovation, and mentorship.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to providing high-quality programming, promoting intellectual discovery, building a thriving academic catalog, advancing academic excellence, and ensuring financial accessibility. We are committed to serving our internal and external constituents with integrity, fairness, and excellence.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant community. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and create meaningful opportunities for growth and success.
