Study Abroad Center
The UNI Study Abroad Center strives to provide service and leadership in international education to UNI students, faculty, staff, the community and the State of Iowa.
Many programs are 'exchange,' where students pay UNI tuition to go abroad for a semester and earn credits towards their UNI degree. We also offer faculty-led programs over the summer and winter break sessions for two to three weeks where students travel with a UNI professor and class of fellow UNI students. A variety of credit options are offered including UNIFI.
To get started, please refer to the "Study Abroad Process" page on the main menu. We also have a page that explains the different "Types of Programs" that are offered. To start the application process, students must schedule a First Steps meeting with an advisor in our office. To schedule this, you can visit any program page or click "Schedule an Appointment" on the main menu.
Gather at the Greenhouse
Join the Study Abroad Center and Botanical Center staff as we take a moment to slow down, immerse ourselves in nature and learn more about unique opportunities to travel the world! Join tours of the greenhouse offered every 15 minutes, enter for giveaways, and chat with staff!
Prep Series
Questions about money, health, or technology abroad? Attend one of our prep series where our office goes over all the information students need to know about prepping for life abroad!
Prep series are offered every Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the library, room 287. For more information, please visit the Prep Series page.
Summer Faculty-Led Apps Open!
Faculty-led programs are a great way to travel with friends for a few weeks, all while earning credit towards your degree. All major's are welcome! To start your application, schedule a First Steps meeting with a Study Abroad Advisor today! Applications due December 15.
Study Abroad Prep Series
The Study Abroad Center offers a Prep Series for UNI students to prepare for their international experience. There are two different sessions that will be hosted on and off throughout the fall and spring semester's in Rod Library. All students are welcome, whether they have applied for a program yet or not.
