Sweden: Linnaeus University (USAC)

This unique program to Sweden is offered through UNI's partnership with the University of Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC). Through this program, students will study at Linnaeus University, which was recently ranked in the top 100 university's in the world for its academics in Marine Life Sustainability. It is important to note that Linnaeus Univeristy has a campus in two different cities in Sweden: Växjö and Kalmar. While both locations are great in their own ways, students cannot take classes on both campus's, and will have to choose one.

Through USAC, students will also have the option to connect with up to 20 other US students who will also be participating in this program during the same term. Not only will UNI students be advised through the process by the UNI Study Abroad Center, but they will also receive help and support from USAC staff as well.

Location

Växjö, well known for it's high-tech industry, has earned the title of 'Greenest City in Europe'. As the title suggests, it boasts of a long history of commitment to sustainability and environmental issues. The surrounding area consists of forests, pristine lakes, hiking trails, and unspoiled countryside. However, this location is not only for the outdoorsy, as the city has rich culture and an active nightlife as well. With a population just under 100,000, students can visit beautiful medieval churches, historic castle ruins, attend music performances, and taste a variety of cuisines at cafes and restaurants.

Kalmar is located 75 miles east of Växjö on Sweden's Baltic Coast and has a population of over 245,000. With a magnificent, well-preserved Renaissance castle and medieval city center, it almost feels like stepping back in time when visiting this historic city. For students who choose to study here, they will have plenty of local attractions to explore as well, including the local cathedral, Kalmar Castle, museums, restaurants and cafes, gardens, beaches, and scenic coastlines. This option also has excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and more.
